AC/DC is a hard rock band that hails from Australia. The band was formed in 1973 by brothers, Angus and Malcolm Young. The band members of AC/DC consistently referred to their music as "rock 'n roll" although the media referred to their music as "hard rock."

Over the years AC/DC ended up going through many staff changes before they released their first album called High Voltage in the year 1975 (over 30 years ago). Their very successful album, Highway to Hell, was recorded in 1979. Tragically, their lead singer and co-songwriter, Bon Scott died in February 1980 from an alcohol overdose. After the sudden death of Scott, the group had considered splitting up but Brian Johnson an ex-Geordie singer was the musician selected as the replacement for Scott. The band's most popular and best selling album, Back in Black was released later that year.

The band announced their exciting new album, Black Ice, in June 2008. This album is scheduled for release on October 20, 2008, soon before their Black Ice tour starts.

• AC/DC has sold over 200 million albums worldwide (including 69 million albums in the United States). The band's album Back in Black sold as astonishing 22 million units in the United States which made it the fifth highest selling album ever in the United States. Another huge achievement is that the band was ranked number 72 in Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. These rankings are quite impressive and this band is popular worldwide.
• AC/DC statistically ranks number four on VH1's list of the One Hundred Greatest Artists of Hard Rock and they rank as the 7th Greatest Heavy Metal Band of All Time which is a distinction given by MTV.
